The UND football program picked up the 19th verbal commitment of the 2020 recruiting class this week.

Millard North (Neb.) inside linebacker Kason Kelley gave his word Monday night to play for the Fighting Hawks.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Kelley also had an offer from the University of South Dakota.

"It came down to I had to go to campus and see if I enjoyed it," said Kelley, who attended UND's 47-7 win over Drake in Week 1. "I enjoyed (the campus) and the gameday atmosphere. It seemed like the right fit for me. I also liked the facilities and uniforms."

UND linebackers coach Brett Holinka saw Kelley at a prospect camp at the University of Iowa.

Kelley wants to pursue a business degree.

"I talked to a marketing teacher there and like that part of it," Kelley said.

Kelley's Millard North team (0-2 this year) plays Millard South in a Class A showdown on Friday night. South is led by UND verbal commitment Chase Perchal.
