Tom Peck (left) and Brandon Kresl, Crookston, shot these wild turkeys April 24 during the third turkey hunting season (April 23-27) in northwest Minnesota Permit Area 256. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in 2006 released 59 hens and 19 males at release sites near Thief River Falls and Red Lake Falls, along with 39 hens in 2007, and the flock now has grown into a huntable population.
