FARGO – Ice fishing will be in the spotlight beginning Friday, Dec. 9, when the 4th Annual Fargo Ice Fishing Show gets underway at Scheels Arena, 5225 31st Ave. S., Fargo.
Show hours are noon to 7:30 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11.
This year’s show will feature a variety of booths from more than 20 guides and resorts, the latest in new ice fishing gear from several manufacturers, nine custom rod builders and a display of luxury hard-sided ice houses.
Also on tap – literally – will be a tasting area to sample a variety of craft beers from Lake of the Woods Brewing Co., and craft cocktail samples from Lake of the Woods Distilling Co.
No seminars are planned this year, but according to show organizer Mike Olson of FishAddictions TV, anglers featured in the YouTube “Game of Inches” ice fishing competition will be on hand at 4 p.m. Dec. 10 for an awards ceremony to crown the winning team and to participate in a question-and-answer session.

As part of the YouTube ice fishing competition, six two-man teams of YouTubers spent five days on the ice, filming five episodes targeting esox (pike and muskies), walleyes, panfish, whitefish, burbot, lake trout and other trout species, and the team with the most total inches will be crowned the winner and land the grand prize of $6,000.
Scheduled to be on hand in Fargo are Adam Konrad of Saskatchewan-based “Team Fishing Geeks,” Clayton Schick of “Team CSO” (“Clayton Schick Outdoors), Alex Peric of “Team AP Bassing plus Cast and Conquer,” Lake of the Woods fishing guide Joe Cooper of “Team Frostbite” and Josh McFaddin of “Team Catch and Cook.”
The fifth and final episode of “Game of Inches” is scheduled to post at 7 p.m. CST Monday, Dec. 5.
“They don’t even know who won the ‘Game of Inches’ yet,” Olson said Thursday in a phone interview. “They’re going to find out when we tell them. Monday is the last episode for each angler, and I’ll announce the winner on Saturday,” Dec. 10.
Admission to the Fargo Ice Show is $12 adults, $24 for a weekend pass and free admission for kids 12 and younger; parking is free.
