DNR hunting and fishing webinars

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is hosting a series of upcoming how-to webinars on a variety of fishing and hunting topics. All of the free webinars start at noon, and pre-registration is required at mndnr.gov/fishwildlife/outreach/index.html. Webinar sessions and topics are as follows:

  • June 23: Introduction to catfish angling.

  • June 30: Basic firearms maintenance.

  • July 7: Shore fishing 102, down by the river.

  • July 14: Getting started in archery.

  • July 21: Finding trout in Minnesota streams and lakes.

  • July 28: Bear hunting and biology.

  • Aug. 4: How to get certified in firearms safety.

  • Aug. 11: Rifle basics.

  • Aug. 18: Mourning dove hunting .

  • Aug. 25: DNR at the 2021 Minnesota State Fair.

  • July 6: Virtual fishing seminar with Devils Lake fishing guide and tournament walleye pro Johnnie Candle, 7 p.m. Event will focus on walleyes, northern pike and white bass, beginning with a 15- to 20-minute seminar, followed by a question-and-answer session, and will stream at facebook.com/devilslake .

  • July 17: Third annual Bemidji State University “War on the Shore” fishing tournament, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Virtual tournament will be conducted through www.tourneyangler.com , and the registration fee is $300 per boat (up to three anglers). A social, meal, award ceremony and silent auction will follow from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ruttger’s Birchmont Lodge, 7598 Bemidji Road NE, Bemidji.
