The team of Zach Srnsky and Trevor Rodd weighed in six catfish for 68.74 pounds to win the Scheels Boundary Battle Catfish Tournament held Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, on the Red River in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.
Teams could weigh in three catfish each day: Two big fish longer than 24 inches and one “slot fish” less than 24 inches in length.
Srnsky, of Grand Forks, and Rodd, of Hermantown, Minn., landed a trophy and $2,000 for winning the tournament, along with another $250 for landing the largest slot fish on day two with a 5.27-pound cat. They also won the Boundary Battle in 2017.
Rounding out the top five teams were:
Second: Mike Howard and John Howard, 65.51 pounds, $1,500.
Third: Jim Benson and Brian Rud, 64.98 pounds, $1,250.
Fourth: Matt Fiala and Andrew Robertson, 64.54 pounds, $750.
Fifth: Troy Weber and Dustin Casmey, 64.29 pounds, $500.
Despite the challenges of holding a live weigh-in tournament during the pandemic, this year’s Scheels Boundary Battle event went well, said Brad Durick, tournament director.
“It was difficult with changing situations but it was one of the smoother tournaments once we got going,” he said.

The tournament was open to 50 two-person teams and filled to capacity several weeks before the event, Durick said. Anglers weighed in 205 fish for a tournament weight of just under 2,000 pounds.
“Anglers were all very happy to be there,” he said. “There were many good fish caught and lots of good weights. We didn't know who was hoisting the trophy until the end.”
