Events

Park vehicle passes are required for all events at North Dakota and Minnesota state parks. Vehicle passes are $7 daily and $35 annually in both states.

  • Oct. 20: Finley Wildlife Club’s annual Youth Pheasant Hunt. Registration required beginning at 7 a.m. in the Finley American Legion Hall, 600 Lincoln Ave., Finley, N.D., Maps will be available at registration, and hunt is free for youth and adults who take a young hunter afield. North Dakota regulations and licensing requirements apply. The wildlife club will serve a free creamed pheasant and wild rice dinner beginning at noon. Info: Mike Stromsodt, (701) 789-0583.

  • Oct. 26-27: Sighting-in days, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Forks Rifle Club W.G. Coulter Range, 8½ miles west of Merrifield, N.D., on Grand Forks County Road 6 (2051 12th Ave. NE, Emerado, ND). The range will be open to the public, and rifle club personnel will be running the range and helping hunters sight in their firearms in advance of the upcoming deer season.

  • Oct. 26: “Creepy Crawlies,” 2 to 3 p.m., Lake Bemidji State Park, 10 miles north of Bemidji off U.S. Highway 71. Info: Christa Drake, (218) 308-2300 or by email at christa.drake@state.mn.us .

  • Nov. 17: Christmas Open House, 1 to 5 p.m., Icelandic State Park near Cavalier, N.D. The Pioneer Village Heritage Center will be decorated with trees and lights, with a program beginning at 2 p.m. Info: parkrec.nd.gov/events/christmas-open-house.
