The North Dakota Game and Fish Department on Tuesday, March 31, said it has no plans at this point to cancel or alter the 2020-21 fishing season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anglers planning to venture out need new fishing licenses as of Wednesday, April 1. Licenses are available on the Game and Fish website at gf.nd.gov. Nonresident fishing licenses also are still scheduled to be available April 1 on the website, the department said on its Facebook page.
Should any future changes be made to hunting or fishing seasons or other scheduled events or deadlines because of COVID-19, they will be posted on the department’s Facebook page and on the web at https://gf.nd.gov/covid-19 .
Anglers should follow social distancing guidelines recommended by the federal Center for Disease Control and keep at least 6 feet apart to reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 coronavirus. As Game and Fish Department director Terry Steinwand said last week, if you can touch the angler next to you with your regular open water fishing rod, you’re too close.
Meanwhile, all North Dakota Game and Fish Department offices remain closed to the public until at least April 6, the department said.
