Fargo - After claiming both the regular season and postseason Summit League softball titles, NDSU (43-9) found out Sunday night that it will open the NCAA tournament against Fresno State (40-14) in the Eugene, Oregon regional on Thursday.
The other matchup in the regional pits number 2 overall seed Oregon (46-6) against BYU (39-12) on Thursday.
This is NDSU's 6th NCAA tournament appearance in 7 years of being eligible for the Division One NCAA softball tournament.
Last year, NDSU opened the tournament with a 5-2 upset victory over #21/22 Auburn. But, the Bison were eliminated after losing to Minnesota and Auburn the following day.
