The North Dakota Forest Service and North Dakota State University have honored the Grand Forks Park District with an Excellence in Government Award. The award is one of 15 the Forest Service and NDSU are presenting to individuals, organizations and communities across the state who contribute in an outstanding way to forestry activities.
The Park District will be recognized at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Trees Bowl and Awards Ceremony in the Fargodome. NDSU President Dean Bresciani and State Forester Larry Kotchman will present each winner with a plaque and a tree print. The winners also will also attend the Trees Bowl football game at 3 p.m. and be recognized at halftime.
The Forest Service and NDSU presents awards for fire mitigation, protection and suppression; tree planting, preservation or maintenance; community forestry efforts; forest management practices; forest recreation; or environmental education.
