2019-20: 22-5-0, third at state tournament.

Top returners (goals-assists): Sr. Braden Panzer (all-state, all-conference, 26-30), Sr. Carson Caulfield (all-state, all-conference, 5-5), sr. Chase Spicer (16-36), sr. Joey Kennelly (17-25), sr. Brendan White (7-9), sr. Adam Arnold (1-11), sr. Kolby Elseth (22-5-0, .916 save %, 1.34 GAA).

Other returners: Jr. Connor Litzinger (1-1), jr. Dominic Gerszewski (2-1), soph. Colton Bjorge (0-5), sr. Carson Seng (0-2), sr. Joseph Riskey (0-4).

Potential new impact players: Jr. Dillon Kuntz (0-4, injured most of last season), soph. Bryce Philpot, jr. Hunter Anderson (0-0), soph. Cade Lindseth, soph. Wyatt Wockenfuss.

Knights coach Paranica says: “We have an experienced defensive corps this year with five seniors in the lineup and second-year starter, Kolby Elseth, in goal, so hopefully that will allow us to be forgiving on the back end. Last season’s line of Spicer, Panzer and Kennelly are intact and will be relied upon to provide scoring punch and lead us up front in the early going.”

Grand Forks Red River

Coach: Tim Skarperud

2019-20: 18-7-2, East Region tournament champion, state champion.

Top returners (goals-assists): Soph. Michael Coleman (10-8), jr. Jake Grandstrand (10-7), sr. Justin Wasvick (8-8), sr. Zach Hinschberger (6-10), jr. Cooper Freije (9-6), jr. Wyatt LeDuc (6-6), sr. Roughriders coach Skarperud says: “We have quite a few returners from last year’s team that gained valuable experience in their run to the state championship and will look for them to take another step in their development. We like our depth at all three positions, which will create good internal competition for spots and playing time. On the offensive side, we will be by committee and will look for guys to step up and become our go-to players.”
