UND loses assistant Jacobson to Mary: UND assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Adam Jacobson is leaving the program to accept an assistant coaching position at NCAA Division II University of Mary.
Jacobson spent four seasons at his alma mater in Grand Forks.
Jacobson was an assistant for the Marauders for two seasons from 2012-14.
"We are extremely fortunate to bring Adam Jacobson back to the University of Mary," said Marauders coach Rick Neumann. "Adam was at UMary for two outstanding seasons when we finished in the top three of the North Division and hosted three home playoff games. His time at North Dakota exposed him to new recruiting areas and contacts and helped him grow tremendously as a coach."
Jacobson posted a message to Twitter about the announcement.
"Four years ago, (UND women's basketball coach Travis Brewster) took a chance on a guy that wasn't the most experienced, but was hungry, and what Coach Brew did was match that hunger with big time experience and I couldn't be more thankful," Jacobson wrote. "I leave UND with a great mentor and even better friend."
GF Outlaws head to state: The Grand Forks Outlaws U13 baseball team will head to the state tournament this week in Dickinson with a 35-13 record.
The team, which has been together since the players were 9 years old, will play either Willison or Kindred on Friday.
The past two seasons, Minot has defeated the Outlaws in the state title game.
However, the Outlaws advanced to regional competition the past two seasons, winning the Great Plains Regional in Council Grove, Kan., in 2016.
Chris Feller and Rick Acker coach the Outlaws.
