SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State held off a late charge by North Dakota to take a 71-65 win Thursday night in a Big Sky Conference game. UND, Sacramento and three other Big sky teams now are tied for third place, all with 8-7 records. Overall, UND dropped to 11-14.
The Hornets led by 15 points at halftime, but senior Jamal Webb’s career-high tying 23 points helped UND make a second-half charge.
Webb had 17 of his 23 points in the second half as UND trimmed the deficit to five points with a minute to play, but the Hornets made six straight free throws to seal the win.
“We had open looks in the first half, but just could not get anything to fall,” UND coach Brian Jones said. “I was proud of the way we fought back there in the second half, but this is a tough place to play and we needed to play a complete 40-minute game tonight.”

Mikh McKinney led the Hornets with 19 points and freshman Nicks Hornsby had a season-high 15 points to give SAC a season split with UND for the second straight season.
North Dakota could never find a rhythm offensively and turned the ball over eight times in the first half as Sacramento State raced out to a 37-22 lead at the break. The Hornets shot 58 percent from the floor and limited UND to just a 31 percent clip.
