Mayville State's football game against Dakota State, scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed due to a positive coronavirus test.

The game, originally tagged as the Farmers Bowl, will be played at Jerome Berg Field in Mayville at a November date to be determined.

The game is postponed "out of an abundance of caution related to the COVID-19 pandemic," Mayville State said in a release dated Wednesday.

"Our top priority is keeping our campus safe and healthy so that we can honor our commitment to academics and continue with in-person course delivery at Mayville State," Mayville State President Brian Van Horn said. "We definitely are not in a crisis situation with only one new positive COVID-19 case, but we are proceeding with extreme caution in following proper protocols."

The Comets, under first-year head coach Rocky Larson, are 0-2 to start the year with losses to Waldorf and Dickinson State.

The team's next scheduled game is at Valley City State on Oct. 3.
