Four from area join hall

Inductees this past weekend into the North Dakota High School Track and Field Hall of Fame included four people with strong area ties. They are:

  •  Dani Parkos Fluge: A standout thrower at Grand Forks Central, Fluge won four discus, three shot put and two javelin Class A state titles. She swept the throwing events in 1990 and 1992. She went on to win Big Ten discus and shot put championships at the University of Minnesota.
  •  Tim Delmore: Delmore is in his 39th season as jumping coach at Grand Forks Red River High School. Athletes he coached include North Dakota’s first 7-foot high jumper and the state record holder in the triple jump.
  •  Tim Tandeski: The Grand Forks javelin coach, Tandeski is in his 30th season of coaching. Tandeski-coached athletes are current Class A girls and boys state record holders. His throwers have won 28 state titles.
  •  Kinsey Coles Essler: The Hillsboro High School graduate won state titles in the 200 (twice), 400 (twice), 800 (twice) and 300 hurdles and in 2000 she was named Class B senior track athlete of the year. She went on to become a 13-time NCAA Division II All-American at North Dakota State University, winning five national championships, and was a 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier in the 800.

Other inductees were: Leslie Randich, Bismarck; Wayne Lunn, Bismarck; Jared Essler, Minot; Amanda Dietrich Marcuccio, Mandan; Tim Kolsrud, Bismarck; Jerry Swchwartz, Dickinson; and Don Blevins, Fort Yates.
