Leanna Haugen scored 26 points to help Stephen-Argyle down East Grand Forks Sacred Heart on Monday.

Autumn Thompson was also a major contributor for the Storm scoring 16. Anya Edwards was the scoring leader for the Eagles with 22.

“I am proud of how our girls fought back,” said Sacred Heart coach Joann Remer. “We were down by quite a bit and brought it back within reach. We never stopped fighting.”

Michelle Remer added 18 points and scored her 1,000th career point.

The Eagles will host Fertile-Beltrami on Friday.

UMC’s Thielman honored

Minnesota-Crookston’s Alexa Thielman is the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division Player of the Week. She led UMC to a weekend sweep of Minnesota State Mankato and Concordia University.

Thielman averaged 22 points as the Golden Eagles moved to 5-1 in NSIC play. Thielman was 13-of-26 from the field and 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. Thielman led the Golden Eagles over Mankato 75-70, scoring 32 points. She scored 12 points in UMC’s 73-61 win over Concordia-St. Paul

Thielman has now tallied 20 or more points in five of UMC’s last six games.
