Murphy third
in prelims
BISMARCK -- Keelan Murphy's third-place finish in the 500 freestyle prelims highlighted the Grand Forks KnightRiders' showing Friday during the opening day of the North Dakota state meet.
Tyler Keehr was sixth in the 100 backstroke while Daniel Todorovic and Mike White finished eighth in the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly, respectively.
"We swam about as well as we could have hoped and expected today," Grand Forks coach Brent Newman said. "As a team everyone really stepped up and gave it their best effort. We have really been getting the guys focused on taking care of the things that they can control. That effort started in the practice pool 14 weeks ago, but the ultimate test was today where each guy needed to swim and dive their best before worrying about final places or points."
