The National Collegiate Hockey Conference has made its first change to the schedule for the 2020-21 season.

The NCHC Pod, which was originally announced as a 40-game event over the span of 20 days, is now down to 38 games after adjusting dates and times to accommodate Colorado College's late arrival to the Pod.

Due to one positive COVID-19 test, Colorado College's team is being quarantined until Tuesday, which is when the Tigers were supposed to play their first game. Now, the Tigers won't play until Dec. 9.

Colorado College will play eight games in Omaha. It will make up games against Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State in the second half of the season. The Bulldogs and Huskies will now play nine games in the Pod.

UND will still play 10 games in the Pod. None of UND's game dates were changed, just three game times.

The Fighting Hawks will open at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday against Miami.

The delayed start will allow Colorado College practice time before starting the season. Colorado College coach Mike Haviland told the Herald earlier this week that he was concerned about playing with minimal practice time leading up to the event.

"Am I concerned? Yeah, I am," Haviland said. "It's two weeks off. Other teams are playing. It may be bad timing. Other schools now around the country are pushing back schedules, pausing things, and you've got to make the best of it. I keep telling our guys, 'Control what we can control.'

"We need to get our guys back on the ice, get their legs under them. You think about groins and backs and coming off of two weeks is a lot, trying to prepare to play. No matter who you play in this conference, it's tough. Certainly, there's concern there. I know our guys are doing a great job and are in good shape, so hopefully, we can get back at it pretty quick here."

Midco Sports Network will broadcast all 38 games from Omaha. They also will be available on NCHC.tv. Commentators Alex Heinert, Jake Brandt, Ben Holden and Dave Starman will all be on site in Omaha.
