The 1959 NCAA national championship team returned to campus last season for a 60-year reunion in January.
Ralph Engelstad Arena and the Sioux Shop printed off merchandise that had one of the logos they used during the 1958-59 season.
It has crossed hockey sticks with a 'U' on the left, an 'N' in the middle and a 'D' on the right.
The plan was to just use the logo for the reunion weekend, but that soon changed once Sioux Shop general manager Jason Carlson heard feedback.
"After we had it on stuff for the 1959 reunion weekend, it got good reviews," Carlson said. "So, we've increased it on everything since."
The vintage logo has become one of the top-sellers in the Sioux Shop in the past year.
The Sioux Shop has frequently used it as a secondary mark on items, putting it on the arm or sleeve of shirts. It also is used as the primary logo on other pieces of clothing.
They're even using it on shirts for UND's game against Penn State in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena next season.
As long as it remains popular, Carlson said he plans to continue selling items with the 1959 logo on it.
The 1959 team brought home UND's first national championship by beating St. Lawrence and Michigan State in back-to-back overtime games in the Frozen Four. Reg Morelli scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the title game against the Spartans.
The program has gone on to win eight total national championships, one shy of Michigan's record of nine. The other UND titles came in 1963, 1980, 1982, 1987, 1997, 2000 and 2016.
Schweigert shirt hits racks
Former UND football and baseball player Lowell Schweigert was the president of UND's booster club and always emceed the weekly luncheons.
His catch phrase at the luncheons was, "Folks, get your green on this weekend."
The Sioux Shop is now selling shirts with that phrase for Schweigert, who died unexpectedly on Dec. 29. All profits from the shirt's sales will go to Schweigert's scholarship fund.
