NHL report: Jonathan Toews gets 700th career point

UND has another 700-point scorer in the NHL.

Jonathan Toews reached the 700-point mark on Wednesday night, when he tallied a goal and two assists for the Chicago Blackhawks in a 6-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Toews now has 306 goals and 701 points in 824 NHL regular-season games. He also has 40 goals and 110 points in 128 career playoff games.

Toews is third all-time among former UND players in career regular-season points (and first in playoff points).

Dave Christian is UND's all-time leading point-getter with 773, followed by Zach Parise (712) and Toews (701).

Earlier this season, Parise hit the 700-point mark and surpassed Christian as UND's all-time leading NHL goal scorer.

Parise has 347 career goals, followed by Christian (340) and Toews (306).

Toews has 14 goals and 27 points in 33 games this season for the Blackhawks, who snapped an eight-game losing streak Wednesday.

Toews played two seasons at UND from 2005-07, leading the program to a pair of NCAA Frozen Fours.
