Grant Mismash named to all-NCHC rookie team

UND freshman Grant Mismash was named to the all-National Collegiate Hockey Conference rookie team Monday.

Mismash has nine goals and 22 points in 34 games this season for UND. Eight of his nine goals came in NCHC play.

Mismash was named rookie of the week a league-leading four times and was the NCHC’s rookie of the month for October.

UND has had one all-rookie team selection in each season of the NCHC era. Previous all-rookie team members from UND are Tyson Jost (2016-17), Brock Boeser (2015-16), Nick Schmaltz (2014-15) and Paul LaDue (2013-14).

Other members of the all rookie team this year are St. Cloud State forwards Blake Lizotte and Easton Brodzinski, Denver defenseman Ian Mitchell, Minnesota Duluth defenseman Scott Perunovich and St. Cloud State goalie David Hrenak. Mitchell, Perunovich and Hrenak were unanimous selections.

Schlossman is in his 14th year covering college hockey for the Herald. In 2016 and 2018, he was named the top beat writer in the country by the Associated Press Sports Editors. He also was the NCHC's inaugural Media Excellence Award winner in 2018. Schlossman has voted in the national college hockey poll since 2007 and has served as a member of the Hobey Baker and Patty Kazmaier Award committees.
