GIRLS STATE CONSOLATION: Davies skates past Williston

Fargo Davies received two goals from Kylie Schafer to lead the Eagles past Williston 5-1 on Friday in the first consolation game in the North Dakota state girls hockey tournament at Purpur Arena.

Fargo Davies received two goals from Kylie Schafer to lead the Eagles past Williston 5-1 on Friday in the first consolation game in the North Dakota state girls hockey tournament at Purpur Arena.

The Eagles advance to today’s fifth-place game against Mandan.

In the other consolation semifinal, Mandan won 3-2 over Minot in double overtime.

Fargo Davies 5, Williston 1: Davies gained control with two goals 20 seconds apart in the first period.

Miryley Hartel and Schafer scored at 3:17 and 3:37 of the first for Davies, which outshot Williston 32-17.

Paige Bettenhausen and Emily Anderson also scored for Davies, which improved to 16-9.

Williston, which ended at 6-17-5, received its goal from Mattie Johnson.

Mandan 3, Minot 2, 2OT: Taley Davis scored the game-winner at 1:29 of the second overtime to lift Mandan past Minot.

Mandan improved to 13-10 while Minot ended at 10-14.1.
