Gearing up for a playoff-type series

Hey NoDak fans! So last weekend our road trip to Columbus, Ohio, did not go exactly the way we wanted it to. We ended up splitting with the Buckeyes, losing the first game by a score of 6-2 and winning the second game 5-2.

Hey NoDak fans! So last weekend our road trip to Columbus, Ohio, did not go exactly the way we wanted it to. We ended up splitting with the Buckeyes, losing the first game by a score of 6-2 and winning the second game 5-2.

It was good to see the way the team responded on Saturday after Friday's loss, even though it seems to be a repetitive thing all season long.

About a month ago, our team decided to draw for "secret admirers" instead of doing "secret Santa" because not everyone was in Grand Forks over break. So this past week, as February has reached us, many secret admirers have acted recently, mine included.

On Tuesday, I walked into our locker room for practice and was stopped dead in my tracks after noticing my stall. I stared for a second then couldn't do anything but laugh.

My secret admirer had laid some fake rose petals in amongst my stall and on the floor along with a poem and a couple small chocolates.

It has been fairly slow with the secret admirers, but like I said, now that February has approached us, the letters, poems and chocolates from our secret admirers have picked up.

Looking ahead to this weekend, it will be an exciting one against the Bemidji State Beavers. Not only do both teams need to get the sweep and the points, but with this being a weekend down the stretch, wins are crucial for us this weekend and the next two weekends of the regular season.

Bemidji looks at us as rivals, and we know that they still hold a grudge on us from beating them in playoffs last year. With that being said, I anticipate this weekend to be as intense as a playoff series.

Not only is this our last regular season series played at home, but Saturday also is Senior Night. We have a core group of seniors this year; we have been through thick and thin together over the past four years.

Our group of seniors this year consists of Alyssa Wiebe, Ashley Holmes, Kelsey Ketcher, Margot Miller, Monique Weber, Sara Dagenais and myself. For this to be senior weekend it is special, being here for four years, being a part of building the program here - it is the biggest thing that most of us have been a part of.

To realize that it is coming to an end is difficult for many of us to swallow. It is going to be weird for us to be regular college students for the last two months of the school year - that in itself is going to be an adjustment for us.

I hope many of you are able to come out and cheer us on for our last regular season series at home and help give us seniors a send off that we will never forget!
