First period

Denver 1, UND 0 -- McKade Webster (Antti Tuomisto, Ryan Barrow) 12:37 (pp). UND defenseman Gabe Bast takes a bad penalty after the whistle, slashing a Pioneer player's stick and it costs the Fighting Hawks. Tuomisto blasts one from the point that takes a long bounce off the end wall and Webster puts it behind UND goalie Adam Scheel before he can get back.

Denver 2, UND 0 -- Kohen Olischefski (Brett Edwards) 13:37. Denver tacks on a second goal in the span of a minute as Edwards steals the puck from Judd Caulfield behind the net and feeds Olischefski in the slot to make it 2-0.

Denver 2, UND 1 -- Jordan Kawaguchi (Matt Kiersted, Shane Pinto) 14:21 (pp). Pinto's dominance in the faceoff circle pays off. He wins a draw clean back to Kiersted at the point. Kiersted feeds Kawaguchi at the top of the right circle. The senior from Abbotsford blasts a one-timer past Denver goalie Magnus Chrona for his second goal of the season. It extends Kawaguchi's point streak to four games. He has a point in every game this season.

Second period

Denver 2, UND 2 -- Collin Adams (Matt Kiersted, Shane Pinto) 19:35 (pp). UND takes advantage of a power play late in the period when Kiersted's point shot lands near the crease and Adams finds it and puts it home for his first of the season.

Third period

Denver 3, UND 2 -- Carter Savoie (Cole Guttman, Brett Stapley) 17:58 (pp). With just 20 seconds left on a major penalty to Brendan Budy, Guttman sent Savoie in a rush up the left side. Savoie picked the far-side corner of the net for his fifth goal in his first four games.

The Fighting Hawks are keeping their top three lines together. . . Adam Scheel is starting in net for the third time in four games this season. . . Denver goalie Corbin Kaczperski, a transfer from Yale, is eligible for the first time Tuesday. He's backing up Magnus Chrona.
