Tanner Morgan has yet to throw an interception in 59 attempts this season. He is one of four Minnesota quarterbacks this century to attempt 50 or more passes in the Gophers’ first three games of a season without throwing a pick.
The others are Zack Annexstad (2018, 79 attempts), Adam Weber (2008, 86) and Bryan Cupito (2004, 55).
Cupito was the only one of the previous three who had not thrown an interception through four Minnesota games in that season (76 attempts).
Additional team and player notes
- Minnesota shut out Colorado, 30-0, on the road last week. The Gophers snapped a streak of 184 straight games without pitching a shutout. The only Power 5 team with an active streak of consecutive games allowing points longer than 184 is California (190).
- Trey Potts rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns against Colorado. Over the last two weeks, Potts has 299 rushing yards and five rushing scores, one of two FBS players with 250 yards and five TDs on the ground over that span (Blake Corum, Mich: 296 yards/6 TDs).
- Bowling Green got its first win in two seasons last week, defeating Murray State, 27-10 – the Falcons lost all five games in 2020. Bowling Green rushed for 118 yards against FCS Murray State despite entering the game with 41 total rushing yards in its first two games.
- Austin Osborne has 21 catches for 153 yards this season with at least six catches in each game. The 21 receptions lead all MAC players in 2021, but Osborne’s 7.3 yards per catch represent the third-lowest average in the FBS this season (minimum 15 catches).
