On third-and-9 from the 18, South Dakota State beats UND's defensive pressure by running a tunnel screen. Quarterback Mark Gronowski completes a touchdown pass over the middle to Jaxon Janke.

UND 7, South Dakota State 7, 1:00 left first quarter: UND's trickery on special teams pays off. After UND goes nowhere to start the drive, punter Cade Peterson passes over the middle to Garett Magg, who runs for 23 yards to midfield. On the 15th play of the drive, which included a defensive pass interference penalty on fourth-and-3 from the 31, Otis Weah plunges in from 1 yard out.

South Dakota State 14, UND 7, :45 left first quarter: After UND's 15-play drive to tie it, Jacks strike on first play of rebuttal. Gronowski hits Jaxon Janke down the middle of the field, over the coverage of UND corner Sammy Fort, for a 76-yard strike to erase the UND momentum.

UND 14, South Dakota State 14, 10:28 left third quarter: UND opens the second half with a touchdown drive. Luke Skokna busts off a 43-yard run to put the Fighting Hawks in scoring position. After a Tommy Schuster to Derek Paulson 9-yard gain and an Otis Weah 3-yard run, Skokna goes up over the top on a 1-yard plunge to tie the score.

South Dakota State 17, UND 14, 6:46 left third quarter: The Jacks run into penalty trouble to negate a touchdown pass. A tripping penalty eventually led to a third-and-25 from the 34. SDSU played it safe with a Pierre Strong run up the middle to get into field-goal range. A 39-yard field goal gave the Jacks the lead again.

UND 21, South Dakota State 17, :17 seconds left third quarter: UND special teams comes through to set up a score. Caden White's punt block gives UND the ball in the red zone. On second down, Tommy Schuster hits Garett Maag on an out route as the Fighting Hawks take their first lead.

UND 28, South Dakota State 17, 6:53 left fourth quarter: After UND picks up a big third-and-short on a Marcus Preston out route, Otis Weah rumbles 40 yards down the sideline for a touchdown. He fumbled near the 10-yard line but the loose ball ends up right in his arms in the end zone.
