UND held its 14th fall camp practice Sunday morning at Memorial Stadium. Here are a few details to know about it:

The scene: The team practiced in full pads. It was 53 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze at the beginning of practice at 8:45 a.m. It was 64 degrees when practice ended around 11 a.m. Former UND linebacker Eric Halstenson (2003-05) was among those in attendance.

Participation note: The team continues to avoid new significant injuries through fall camp. True freshman defensive end Chandon Pierre, a possible candidate to play as a rookie, was sidelined on crutches after suffering a leg injury in Saturday's practice.

Play of the day: Junior safety Hayden Galvin broke up a Nate Ketteringham deep pass attempt to Noah Wanzek. Galvin, who played in four games in 2018 before shutting it down to maintain redshirt status, went up high to break up a pass against a receiver well known for winning jump-balls.

Looking good: Mikey Griebel, a sophomore wide receiver from Littleton, Colo., has strung together an impressive few days of fall camp. Sophomore quarterback Noah Grover hit Griebel on a number of big pass plays during team drills Sunday.

Needs work: UND missed on a little trickery. Ketteringham missed a wide-open Alex Cloyd, a senior tight end from Omaha, down the sideline on a double-reverse pass.

Next up: The team will conduct Day 15 of fall camp Monday morning at 8:45 at Memorial Stadium.

Day 14 notes

  • The defense had the upper hand much of Sunday. The tone was set early in team drills when Jer Dominique, a 6-foot-1 junior defensive back from the University of Hawaii, was quick to read a Ketteringham-to-Brock Boltmann pass play in the flats. On the next play, starting cornerback Hayden Blubaugh broke up a Ketteringham pass to Garett Maag on a slant.
  • Bubba Schweigert registered his first big rant of fall camp, halting practice to call the team together and preach better practice habits. Emotions were rising among the players after the practice featured a few unnecessarily physical plays in a mostly non-contact setting.
  • Senior linebacker Donnell Rodgers and redshirt freshman Ryan Schoenfelder disrupted pass plays in the backfield during team drills.
