Five area players have been named to the Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches Association Class A all-state team.
The five are Cynthia Loven and Kenzie Whalen of East Grand Forks Senior High; Madi Oelkers and Kaitlyn Kotlowski of Section 8A champion and state runner-up Warroad; and Tessa Jorde of Thief River Falls.
Loven, a senior forward for the 18-9-1 Green Wave, led Senior High's offense in goals (31) and and was second on the team in points (43).
Whalen, a senior goalie for the 8A runner-up Wave, had a 15-9-1 record, with a .922 save percentage and a 2.28 goals-against average. She was honorable mention all-state as a junior.
Oelkers, a senior forward, led 24-4-2 Warroad in goals (43) and points (74). She was honorable mention all-state as a junior.

Kotlowski, a junior defenseman, finished with 16 goals-three of them in the state tournament-and 37 points. She was honorable mention all-state as a sophomore.
Jorde, a senior defenseman for the 17-7-2 Prowlers, had nine goals and 16 assists on the season.
Thief River Falls had two all-state honorable mentions, freshman forward Shelby Breiland (25 goals-17 assists) and sophomore defenseman Khloe Lund (7-18).
Section 8AA runner-up Roseau had one player recognized, as senior defenseman Jenna Byfuglien (13-13) was a Class AA honorable mention all-stater.
