A Grand Forks man with previous hunting violations is facing a new charge in connection with an incident that a game warden says occurred Jan. 6, the last day of North Dakota's archery deer season.
Ian Noack of Grand Forks has been charged with illegal possession or taking of a deer. Gary Rankin, district game warden for the state Game and Fish Department in Larimore, N.D., said Noack allegedly shot two deer with a bow, and someone else's tag was put on one of the deer.
The deer reportedly were taken in Traill County, Rankin said.
In 2006, Noack was charged in Traill County with hunting or assisting in hunting while his privileges were suspended. At that time, Noack also was charged with posting land he wasn't entitled to post.
That case has yet to be decided, and a jury trial is set for May 1, according to the Traill County Clerk of Court's office.

The suspension in 2006 resulted from a 2005 conviction for illegally taking a whitetail buck during that year's firearms deer season. Noack's hunting privileges since have been restored, Rankin said.
Illegal possession or taking a deer is a Class A misdemeanor. Noack is scheduled to appear in court at 10 a.m. Feb. 13, according to the Traill County Clerk of Court's office.
Noack also was cited Jan. 6 in Grand Forks County for hunting pheasants within 440 yards of an occupied dwelling, a Class B misdemeanor.
