In an offense that’s been dominated by quarterback Sam Votava this season, East Grand Forks Senior High had a productive four-headed monster at tailback Wednesday.
The Green Wave got 198 yards from the tailback position in claiming a 35-14 high school football win against visiting Thief River Falls.
Carter Vasek led the way at the tailback position, rushing for 92 yards, most of those in the first half. It was his second game of the season in which he’s rushed for more than 90 yards. Micaiah Peterson added 52 yards, Evan Pederson 35 and Sam Jeuch 19. The latter three all got their yardage in the second half.

Vasek and Pederson each scored a touchdown. Vasek’s 1-yard run on the first play of the second quarter gave the Wave a 13-7 lead that they never relinquished.
“Carter gave us a lot in the first half,’’ Senior High coach Ryan Kasowski said. “He’s really good at cutting, stopping on a dime and making defenders miss.
“And a lot of it was the line. We came in looking to grind it out. They did a good job opening holes for our backs.’’
Votava had a strong game, as well. The junior was 6-of-11 passing for 78 yards and rushed for 90 yards. He had three rushing touchdowns, covering 13, 11 and 32 yards.
Senior High finished with a 376-228 advantage in total yards. Two big pass receptions by Aaron Bruggeman -- 83 yards from Grant Hartmann and 39 yards from Bryce Lingen -- accounted for more than half of the yardage for the 0-7 Prowlers.
“Other than a couple of big plays, our defense was solid,’’ said Kasowski, whose team improved to 3-4.
