Cory Loeffler of Red Lake Falls, Minn., shot his first caribou with a bow during a recent hunting trip to the North Slope near the Brooks Range in Alaska. Hunting with friend Nick Docken, Loeffler said he also shot another bull later in the trip. “Temp was about 10 degrees, and it snowed over 1.5 feet while we were up there,” Loeffler writes. “Seven guys crammed into a 13x20 tent with a small wood stove. We had to haul all supplies up to camp (including) gas and wood (we were north of the tree line)."
