Northern Colorado 5, UND 3
GREELEY, Colo. -- Northern Colorado scored three runs in the third inning en route to its Great West Conference win over UND on Friday.
"Andrew Thome threw a nice game today, good enough to win it," UND coach Jeff Dodson said. "We're just not hitting enough in certain situations. We've got to get better with runners in scoring position. Offensively, we've got to scratch and fight and find good pitches to hit."
Thome threw the complete game, scattering nine hits over eight innings while striking out five without issuing a walk.

UND generated a run in the fourth on a Jeff Campbell triple followed by a Daniel Lockhert single, which left North Dakota trailing 4-2.
UND (10-13-1, 1-4 GWC) got another run in the sixth as Taylor Petersen led off with a walk and later scored on a double-play ball.
The Bears (13-14, 4-2) added an insurance run in the eighth.
Lockhert, Kris Kwak and Ryan Reese all had a pair of hits for UND.
The teams meet in a double header today.
