Sioux hire coach, promote another
UND hired an assistant coach and promoted another today.
Former NBA guard Dean Oliver was added to the Sioux staff while Tom Dryburgh, a former Sioux player and graduate manager, will become the program's director of operations -- a newly created position.
Oliver was hired to fill an assistant coaching vacancy when Nate Philippe accepted a coaching position at Maine.

Oliver recently retired from professional basketball after a nine-year career that included stints in the NBA, the NBDL and a variety of leagues overseas. The Mason City, Iowa, native spent last season playing for JL Bourg in France.
Oliver played at Iowa when Jones served as an assistant coach for the Hawkeyes.
"Dean is a great addition to our coaching staff," Jones said. "His tremendous basketball background speaks for itself, but along with his impressive resume is his unbelievable character and values, which go hand-and-hand with our university and basketball program."
After playing at Iowa, Oliver spent his first two professional seasons (2001-03) with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA.
"This is an unbelievable opportunity for me," Oliver said. "I have known Coach Jones for a number of years, even before he was coaching, so this is a great chance for me to learn from him. It also gives me a chance to give back to basketball because it has been so good to me. I cannot wait to get started."
Dryburgh enters his fifth season on the basketball staff and first in the newly created position. His responsibilities now include team travel, organization of summer basketball camps along with his existing roles of video preparation and advanced scouting.
Dryburgh played for the Sioux during the 2006-07 season as a junior, but a back injury prevented him from playing his senior season. He earned a bachelor's degree in general studies from UND in 2008.
