Jamestown reaches
second round of NAIA
SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Jamestown College advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NAIA Division II women's basketball tournament with a 70-54 win over Menlo, Calif., on Thursday.
Bridget Schuneman led Jamestown with 19 points.
The Jimmies improved to 27-5 and will meet Eastern Oregon today at 1:45 p.m.

Kayla Roemmich was Jamestown's only other double-figure scorer as she finished with 10 points.
Jamestown has advanced to the second round for the second-straight year and for the third time in school history.
In the NAIA Division II men's tournament, Cardinal Stritch of Wisconsin beat Jamestown 74-56 on Thursday in a first-round game in Point Lookout, Mo.

• Men's softball: The USA men's national fastpitch team locked up a spot in the playoff portion of the International Softball Federation (ISF) World Championship on Thursday by defeating Great Britain 4-1. Gerald Muizelaar of Grand Forks pitched a complete come for the Americans, picking up his first victory in the tournament. The right hander only gave up one run and struck out 12 Great Britain batters on his way to the win.
