Hardin competes

in all-star game

CARSON, Calif. -- Former UND standout wide receiver Greg Hardin caught two passes for 51 yards during Saturday's NFLPA all-star game. The game wrapped up a week-long event for college seniors looking to play professional football.

Hardin had the most receiving yards of any receiver.

Hardin's squad, the American team, lost 31-17 to the National team.

Former NFL coaches Denny Green and Dick Vermeil were the game's head coaches.

SWIMMING

UND men, women win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Both UND men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Seattle University for the second straight day as competition wrapped up at the Air For Academy Natatorium on Saturday.

The UND men won 129-89, while losing to host Air Force 116-100. The North Dakota women were 121-99 winners over Seattle but lost duals to Air Force 131-90 and Northern Colorado 129-95.

The UND men's 200 medley relay team of Adam Gannon, Austin Smith, Colin MacQuarrie and Noah Lucas captured first. Lucas also won the 200 freestyle, while Smith captured the 100 breaststroke.

For the women, UND's Erin Grabanski won the 100 butterfly.

TRACK AND FIELD

Clarke wins 400 meters

MINNEAPOLIS -- Stephanie Clarke won the 400 meters and Savana Weller (800 meters) and Ke-Ke Burks (weight throw) were the runners-up in their respective events as North Dakota opened the 2014 indoor track season at the University of Minnesota's Northwest Open.

Clarke, an Edmonton, Alberta, native, captured the 400 with a time of 58.68 seconds.

Weller, a senior from Sauk Centre, Minn., ran a time of 2:15.81 in the 800 meters while Burks, a sophomore from Madison, Wis., finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 53 feet, 11¾ inches.
