Grand Am tourney begins
It’ll be a busy weekend of basketball in Grand Forks this weekend.
The annual Grand Am Adult Basketball Tournament begins at various courts throughout the city, beginning today at 3:30 p.m.

The tournament continues through Sunday.
There are approximately 140 teams that will compete in various divisions this weekend.
The headquarters for the tournament is at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
Women’s basketball
South Dakota St. 70, Minnesota 62
BROOKINGS, S.D. - South Dakota State defeated the University of Minnesota on Thursday in the third round of the Women’s NIT tournament behind 17 points from senior Steph Paluch.
The Jackrabbits, who trailed 24-23 at half, used seven second-half 3-pointers on 7 of 14 shooting from behind the arc in the half to defeat the Gophers in Frost Arena.
Minnesota was led by Amanda Zahui, who recorded a game-high 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds and five blocks.

Tara Heiser added 14 points for the Jackrabbits, who improved to 17-0 in home games this season.
