Hooker led the Fighting Hawks to wins over Idaho State and then league-leader Weber State. With the two victories, UND moved into a tie for third place in the Big Sky standings. Hooker averaged 15.5 points, seven rebounds and six assists last week while adding two blocks and a steal.

In Thursday’s 16-point win over Idaho State, Hooker scored 13 points, pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds and matched a career-high with 10 assists to record a triple-double.

Defensively, he matched up with reigning Big Sky layer of the week Geno Luzcando, limiting the Bengals’ sophomore to 10 points on 2-of-12 shooting from the floor. Luzcando scored 30 points in each of the games proceeding and following ISU’s loss to UND.

On Saturday, Hooker's 18 points and four free throws in the closing minute helped UND secure its first win over Weber State in nine attempts. He finished 6-for-10 from the field and finished the game with a pair of assists and two rebounds.

Schwab spent 25 seasons as head women’s basketball coach at Lake Region. In that time, he went to nine Division I Championships and finished the season with 20 wins or more 16 times.

Schwab also served as the school’s athletic director from 1990-2014.

Schwab has been recognized several times during his coaching career. Such awards include being named the North Dakota Female Coach of the Year in 1991-92 and Coach of the Year in 1991-92 and 2004-05 by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. Schwab also was named Mon-Dak Conference Coach of the Year in 2013-14.

In addition, Schwab was honored by Lake Region State in 2012, as the school inducted him and his 1989-90 team into the institution’s hall of fame after it posted a 31-4 record and reached the NJCAA D-I women’s basketball championship game.

McClintock, Dehne
lead UND golfers

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Sophomore Jack McClintock and senior Jacob Dehne both broke par for the North Dakota men’s golf team in the opening round of the Pizza Hut Pat Hick’s Invite on Monday.

Those two make up the first duo to achieve that in the same round during head coach Tim Swanson’s two-plus seasons at the helm of the program.

McClintock paced the Fighting Hawks with a 70 (-2), matching his collegiate best set as a freshman when he was at St. Cloud State. McClintock, whose round included a team-high five birdies, is tied for sixth and four shots off the pace of Utah State’s Seokwon Jeon, who fired a 66 (-6).

Dehne also was in the top 10 after an opening-round 71 (-1) that included four birdies. Those two under-par rounds helped UND equal its best team score under Swanson with a 297 (+9).

Junior Daniel Sayler also put together a solid round with a 75 (+3). Sayler’s score is just one stroke off his career-best that he has shot twice before.

UND sits in seventh place in the 12-team field that includes three other Big Sky teams. Utah Valley holds a three-stroke lead on Weber State and Utah (290; +2) after opening with 287 (-1).

The Fighting Hawks will wrap up the 36-hole event today with second-round play.
