Logan Engelstad of Thief River Falls has reached the semifinal round of the Minnesota Class A boys high school tennis tournament.
Engelstad won his two matches in Thursday's opening day of the state singles tournament. He beat Joey Vajgrt of Luverne 6-0, 6-2 in the first round, then rallied for a 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 quarterfinal win over Joey Kronzer of Duluth Marshall.
Engelstad plays Connor Eberle of Holy Family Catholic in Friday's 8 a.m. semifinal round, with the winner advancing to the 11:30 a.m. state title match.
Ty Misialek of East Grand Forks Senior High was 1-1 on Thursday. He dropped a 6-1, 6-2 first-round match to Charlie Adams of The Blake School. Misialek then beat Sander Lee of Mound Westonka 6-4, 6-4 in a consolation quarterfinal. Misialek, a sophomore, plays David Bergstrom of Cook County in a consolation semifinal at 8 a.m. Friday.
