Belcourt anglers dominate Wounded Warriors ice tourney on Devils Lake

A total of 100 anglers -- the maximum allowed -- fished the Second Annual Wounded Warriors Guide Service Ice Tournament held Jan. 17 on Devils Lake.

According to Dave Morse of Wounded Warriors Guide Service, the tournament sold out in December and had a waiting list of more than 15 teams. Prizes were awarded in the walleye, perch, northern pike and other divisions.

Winners in each division were as follows:

Walleye: Matt Blue and William Tandske, Belcourt, N.D., five fish, 5.86 pounds.

Perch: Bob Laducer and Jason Laducer, Belcourt, five fish, 5.02 pounds.

Northern: Jeff Laducer and Cody Laducer, Belcourt, one fish, 6.77 pounds.

Other: Jeff Anderson and Hans Stordahl, Belcourt, 3.25-pound white bass.

Besides the tournament, a rules meeting was held Jan. 16 at Woodland Resort, along with a post-tournament banquet Jan. 17, which was attended by more than 130 people.

The only requirement to attend a Wounded Warriors hunting and fishing trip is that applicants must be veterans.
