BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Playing just three games in the last 40 days leading up to Friday, the South Dakota State men's basketball team looked much more fresh than rusty.

Noah Freidel scored 24 points and the Jackrabbits shot 63.6 percent from 3-point range in a 92-73 win over the Fighting Hawks at Frost Arena.

SDSU was a blistering 10-for-15 from 3-point land in the first half as the Jacks built a 56-32 lead at the break.

"Any time shooting numbers are like, you have to give them a lot of credit but you also have to take a lot of responsibility," UND coach Paul Sather said. "If you make Noah comfortable, he's going to be comfortable. There were a few contested shots made but we could have competed better and been better connected."

Tyree Ihenacho and Filip Rebraca each scored 14 points to lead the Fighting Hawks. Ihenacho, a freshman point guard, added a team-high eight rebounds and a team-high five assists.

UND lost to SDSU in December during the Dakota Showcase at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls. But this time, the Jacks had the services of the reigning Summit League Player of the Year Douglas Wilson, who missed much of the first half of the season with an injury.

Wilson finished with 12 points in 18 minutes.

"This is by far the best team we've seen in this league from top to bottom," Sather said.

UND dropped to 4-12 overall and 3-4 in the Summit, while SDSU improved to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the league.

UND will look for its fourth-consecutive Summit League split when the teams play again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.

"I think our guys have shown they can respond," Sather said. "We've shown that we can beat very good teams without having to be perfect but our effort is closer to perfect. I love this group because they're responding and trying and all those things, but there's a long ways to go for us to get where we need to go."
