Two of the UND basketball program's highest-profile recruits the past two seasons might be transferring elsewhere next year.
DeSean Allen-Eikens announced on Twitter his intent to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, while Jal Bijiek is also reportedly on the move.
Bijiek was listed as a transfer on the website VerbalCommits.com. He was also listed as a transfer on an Iowa Summer League roster.
The moves come shortly after UND has announced the hiring of head coach Paul Sather, who is taking over for former head coach Brian Jones, who left for an assistant coaching job at Illinois State.
Allen-Eikens has been practicing with UND since the second semester of the 2018-19 season. The 6-foot-6 guard committed to UND in October of 2018 over 20 Division I offers.
"Due to the fact a few of my coaches (including my head coach and the coaches that recruited me) have left the University of North Dakota to other universities I will be entering the transfer portal today," Allen-Eikens said on Twitter. "With all this being said coach Sather was a great hire and has given me the opportunity to come back to the University of North Dakota. From this point forward until I decide on a school I will be open to all options that come my way and will be fully re-opening my recruitment to find the best place for me to be the next four years."
Allen-Eikens, who played at Williston High School from eighth grade to his sophomore season, was a two-time all-state pick in North Dakota. As a sophomore, he averaged 21.9 points and 11.9 rebounds for the Coyotes.
Bijiek just completed his freshman season at UND. The 6-foot-7 Bijiek picked UND over offers from Oklahoma, LSU, Wichita State and Texas Tech, among others.
Bijiek, who has a 7-foot-1 wingspan, averaged 15.2 points as a senior at Des Moines North in Iowa.
Bijiek played in 17 of 30 games for UND last season. He averaged 1.9 points and 1.2 rebounds.
