There were familiar faces on the ice as the Manitoba Maple Leafs recruited former UND players. Melissa Jaques, Ashley Paulson, Margot Miller, Ashley Holmes and Ashley Furia all suited up again.
Miller earned the game's third star of the game after a solid day of defense, including blocking two shots on goal.
In addition to Dufault's three goals, North Dakota received goals from Sam LaShomb, Samantha Hanson, Amy Menke and Lisa Marvin. Johanna Fallman recorded two assists, while Marvin and Menke also tallied an assist in addition to their goals as those three, along with Karvinen and Dufault, recorded multi-point nights.
Manitoba was only able to muster five shots on goal each period. North Dakota peppered the Maple Leafs' goalie Alix Fenner with 55 shots.
After the game, the two sides conducted a five-round shootout. Manitoba received goals from Janelle Kohanchuk and Furia to win the shootout 2-1, as Karvinen was the only UND player to score.
UND now takes a break for the holiday season, returning to the ice for a WCHA series at No. 2 Wisconsin on Jan. 11-12.
