Mayville defeated Valley City State 9-1 on Sunday at Scott Berry Field, a win that gave the Comets' coach his 900th victory.

Mayville State and other baseball teams in the new North Star Athletic Association are allowed to play baseball in the fall and again in the spring.

Berry picked up win No. 901 later Sunday when Mayville downed Presentation College 12-1.

Now in his 33rd season at Mayville, Berry has a career record of 901-505, making him the 10th winningest coach in NAIA baseball. He has led Mayville to 21 conference titles and 23 postseason appearances -- 20 in the past 22 seasons.

Berry took over at Mayville State in 1982 from legendary coach Al Meyer. Berry also played baseball at Mayville State and became Meyer's assistant in 1981.
