Lindgren among MSU Hall inductees

MAYVILLE, N.D. – East Grand Forks Senior High graduate and current Green Wave boys basketball coach Travis Lindgren was inducted into the Mayville State Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday. Lindgren was a standout basketball player for the Comets.

Other hall of fame inductees were Richard Fugleberg, Ross Johnson, Lindsey Eliason McMenamy and the 1960-61 Comet men’s basketball team. Members of that team were Gil Herbel, Ray Herbel, Gene Anderson, Don Ostenson, Larry Wold, Doug Eiken, Dale Keena, Doug Halcrow, Vern Spitzer, Ross Julson, Don McIntyre, Vern Wegge, Duane Morris, Grady Rostberg and head coach Al Meyer.

The 2014 MSU Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame inductees were Rod MacDonald, Fabian Shoults, Curtis Strand and Paul Twenge.

  •   Volleyball: Three players from Mayville State earned weekly North Star Athletic Association honors Monday. Josette Glatt is the NSAA’s offensive player of the week; Katie Wangberg is the league’s setter of the week; and Paige O’Connor is the defensive player of the wee. Glatt had a pair of double-doubles in leading the Comets to a 2-1 record during the week. She had a combined 33 kills. Wangberg had 97 total assists in two games. O’Conner collected 59 digs during the week. Mayville is 3-2 in the league and 11-9 overall.
