Former UND volleyball coach Mark Pryor wasn't out of work for long.
Less than 24 hours after announcing his resignation from UND, Pryor was named head coach of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor program on Thursday.
Mary Hardin-Baylor is a faith-based NCAA Division III school in Belton, Texas.
"We are very pleased to be able to hire a coach with Mark Pryor's experience and resume to lead our volleyball program," Crusaders Vice President for Athletics Randy Mann said in a statement released by the school. "He has a great track record of recruiting and developing talented players and we look forward to continued success with Cru volleyball."
Pryor, who was with the Fighting Hawks for five years, might have been hinting at this position in his comments in UND's resignation release, where he expressed his desire to return to his home state of Texas and spend more time involved with his church.
"UMHB was a position that I have had my eye on for over a decade," Pryor said in a UMHB release. "The opportunity to coach and teach in a Christ centered environment, all the while being close to family and old friends was just too good to pass on. Former coach Rob Frost did an amazing job here, making this position even more attractive. Following his success will be a great challenge, but I am looking forward to it.
"My wife Amanda, and my sons Myles and Mason, are really excited to be heading back to Texas. Reconnecting with family and old friends, reconnecting with our church at Harris Creek Baptist Church, making new friends in the community, and getting started with the university and the program."
Pryor's record at UND was 117-58, including two NCAA Tournament appearances-the first two in school history.
Pryor signed a four-year contract extension in November, to run his deal through 2022.
The base salary of that contract at UND was $105,000 (set to begin Jan. 1, 2020) with the potential for competitive and academic bonuses.
