MISSOULA, Mont. -- After spending seven years as Big Sky Conference foes, the UND men's basketball team was no stranger to the challenges of playing at Montana.
Now a member of the Summit League, UND committed 17 turnovers as the Grizzlies picked up a 77-70 win over the Fighting Hawks in non-conference play at Dahlberg Arena.
Kendal Manuel and Sayeed Pridgett each scored 20 points to lead Montana.
The Griz led by seven at halftime. UND was able to tie the game as late as 38-38 before Montana kept the Hawks at arm's length in the final minutes.
UND, which dropped to 4-6 overall, was led by Marlon Stewart's 19 points. Sophomore center Filip Rebraca added 14 points and 12 rebounds, while freshman guard De'Sean Allen-Eikens had 13 points.
The Fighting Hawks were 9-for-22 on 3-pointers, despite missing 3-point specialist Aanen Moody, who was sidelined with an injury.
UND now travels to Cheney, Wash., for a 5:30 p.m. Sunday matchup with Eastern Washington.
The Griz, who improved to 4-5, don't play again until traveling to Oregon on Dec. 18.
