UND 1, Miami 0 -- Collin Adams (Jordan Kawaguchi, Colton Poolman) 3:28. Adams surpasses his goal total of last year by burying his third of this season. Kawaguchi circles behind the net and feeds Adams in the slot. Adams sneaks it past Miami goalie Ryan Larkin's blocker to give the Fighting Hawks an early lead. It is the fourth point of the weekend for Kawaguchi.
UND 1, Miami 1 -- Ryan Savage (John Sladic, Bray Crowder) 4:52. Miami has a quick answer just 1:24 after the Adams goal. Savage carries the puck up the left side on a rush and makes a couple of moves -- faking a shot, then pretending like he was going to try to go around the defender -- before snapping a shot off the post and in for his second-career goal.
UND 2, Miami 1 -- Jasper Weatherby (Westin Michaud, Matt Kiersted) 10:20 (pp). UND's power play moves to 3-for-4 on the weekend when Michaud goes into the corner and makes a no-look backhand pass to Weatherby at the bottom of the right circle. Weatherby puts it just inside the far post for his second goal in two games.
UND 2, Miami 2 -- Phil Knies (Graham) 12:00. Once again, Miami has a quick answer for UND's goal. This one comes in 1:40. Graham digs the puck out of the corner and sends it to Knies inside the right circle. Knies puts it just inside the far post. It marks the first time UND has given up two goals in a game in the span of five games.
UND 3, Miami 2 -- Jordan Kawaguchi (Grant Mismash, Colton Poolman) 15:40. Less than a minute after killing a too many men penalty, Mismash and Kawaguchi end up on a mini two-on-one with Miami defenseman Chaz Switzer way out of position. Mismash makes the feed from the left circle to the right circle, where Kawaguchi threads it into the near-side corner of the net for his fifth point of the weekend.
UND 4, Miami 2 -- Westin Michaud (Harrison Blaisdell, Jacob Bernard-Docker) 15:51. UND makes it two goals in 11 seconds when Blaisdell carries the puck to the bottom of the right circle and makes a nifty backhand pass through a Miami defender to Michaud in the slot. Michaud buries it for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Notes: With Dean Blais in the house, goals are pouring in. Six are scored in the first period. Shots in the first period are 14-9 UND.
UND 5, Miami 2 -- Collin Adams (Jordan Kawaguchi, Andrew Peski) 7:50. Kawaguchi gets his sixth point of the weekend on a great setup for Adams. Kawaguchi circles the net and spots Adams backdoor. He slips a feed across the crease and Adams buries it for his second goal of the night. He now has doubled his goal total from last season.
UND 5, Miami 3 -- Chaz Switzer (Monte Graham, Gordie Green) 9:47. For the third time tonight, Miami answers a UND goal within two minutes on a tic-tac-toe passing play that Switzer buries from the slot.
Notes: UND has three straight power plays in the second period with an opportunity to extend the lead but can't convert on any of them. Shots on goal in the second are 13-7 UND.
UND 5, Miami 4 -- Derek Daschke (Ryan Savage, Gordie Green) 12:15 (pp). Miami gets a major power play -- and then 1:02 of five-on-three time -- and converts right as it goes back to five-on-four. Daschke and Savage play give-and-go and Daschke buries it from the slot to make it a one-goal game with 7:45 left in the third.
Comments: Gavin Hain is called for a five-minute major for boarding at 7:12 of the third. UND gets outshot 7-2 in the third period as it is killing penalties for a good portion of the period.
UND goes with the exact same lineup as Friday night. Miami moves Gordie Green off the line with Karch Bachman and Casey Gilling, presumably to get one of their top three players away from the Mark Senden line. The RedHawks also juggled two of their three defensive pairings. Grant Frederic and Christian Mohs are scratched.
