Former UND forward-turned-defenseman Brad Miller will be on the ice in Nashville this weekend for his last skates before heading overseas to Germany for his seventh professional season.
These skates will be extra special for Miller.
He will be joining former longtime NHL defenseman and Stanley Cup champion Hal Gill and NHL goalie Chris Mason for an event that will benefit military veterans and first responders.
Miller, Gill and Mason are supporting the 7Element organization, which helps fund and teach athletic opportunities for veterans and first responders. They will all be on the ice running the aspiring hockey players -- who come from all different ability levels -- through drills and scrimmaging with them. They'll also be raising money for the organization.
"It's a pretty cool organization," Miller said. "We're trying to spread the word about what they do."
Miller, who runs a podcast called The Morning Bagger, got connected with the organization through Gill and Mason. Recently, he donated a lot of his old equipment -- some of which he had stashed away since his UND playing days -- to the organization.
