MINNEAPOLIS-Roseau entered the Minnesota state Class AA girls basketball tournament as the No. 1 seed.

That seeding apparently didn't matter to Redwood Valley-the Rams' quarterfinal opponent Wednesday night at Williams Arena.

In the end, however, Roseau showed why it earned the top seed as the Rams rallied for a 75-74 win over Redwood Valley to advance to Friday's semifinal round where they will meet Caledonia, which downed Proctor 56-44.

Roseau was led by the sister combination of Katie Borowicz and Kacie Borowicz. Combined, they scored 70 of the team's points.

Katie scored 37 points while Kacie-a UND commit-added 33 in addition to 10 rebounds and six steals.

Roseau improved to 29-2. The Rams were pushed throughout the game by the Cardinals.

An early 7-0 run by Redwood Valley gave the Cardinals a 15-8 lead. By halftime, Redwood Valley led 39-31. And the Cardinals opened the second half with three straight points for an 11-point lead.

But Roseau responded with a 12-0 spurt, capped by a Kacie Borowicz layup with 13:56 to go. Roseau did manage to open a nine-point lead on a Kacie Borowicz jumper with 6:50 to go.

Redwood Valley, however, made a final surge and closed the gap to 75-74 with 47 seconds to go.

A Roseau turnover with six seconds to play allowed the Cardinals a shot for the win. But Amy Martius' 3-point attempt at the buzzer hit the front of the rim and the Rams advanced.

Redwood Valley was led by Haley Garman's 21 points. Aubree Hicks added 20.

Roseau shot 42 percent from the field while Redwood Valley ended to 51 percent. The Cardinals also owned a 36-32 rebounding advantage.

Roseau won the state title in 2017 and finished second last season. The Rams are making their fifth-straight tournament appearance.

Roseau went 15-of-16 from the free-throw line. And the Rams came up big from the perimeter when they needed it the most-hitting four of their six 3-pointers in the final 12:57.

Katie Borowicz hit back-to-back three-pointers, the second giving the Rams a 49-48 lead at the 12:12 mark.

Katie Borowicz' triple with 8:52 left put the Rams up for good at 56-54.
