During UND's six-year run in the Big Sky Conference, local basketball fans were able to develop a routine.
Games were played almost exclusively with travel partners on Thursdays and Saturdays.
The Summit League released the conference schedule Thursday and UND fans are going to have to adjust to a hodgepodge setup during Year 1 of the new league.
In addition, unlike the setup in the Big Sky, UND's men's and women's teams will play seven doubleheaders, including two at home.
UND's two home doubleheaders are Feb. 16 (Oral Roberts) and Feb. 23 (Denver).
UND's first season in the Summit will begin Dec. 28 on the men's side at home against Purdue Fort Wayne. The UND women host the Mastadons two days later to start league play.
The UND women will twice face NDSU, who UND has defeated in all six Division I matchups. The teams play in Fargo on Jan. 20 and in Grand Forks on Feb. 7.
The UND men play the Bison in Fargo on Jan. 19 and in Grand Forks on Feb. 6.
The Summit League includes Denver, North Dakota State, Omaha, Oral Roberts, Purdue Fort Wayne, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Western Illinois.
The UND men were 12-20 last year and 6-11 in league play. The Fighting Hawks return Cortez Seales, Conner Avants and Marlon Stewart, but the team will see significant turnover despite only one senior on the roster a year ago.
UND's offseason saw four transfers and an injury retirement. The highest profile transfer was star guard Geno Crandall, who opted to graduate transfer to Gonzaga.
The UND women were 12-18 last year and 5-13 in league play.
The Fighting Hawks return center Lexi Klabo, who averaged 19 points per game last year. UND, though, did lose the team's second leading scorer in Fallyn Freije, who opted to transfer to former Big Sky Conference foe Montana State.
