Nelson named to Worlds roster
Former Warroad High School and UND standout Brock Nelson was one of 15 players named to USA Hockey's IIHF Men's World Championship team.
The World Championship begins next month in France and Germany.
Nelson plays for the New York Islanders. He had 20 goals and 45 points this season for the Isles, who missed the playoffs.
Nelson helped Team USA to a bronze medal at the event last year.
Nelson's former UND coach, Dave Hakstol, will be an assistant coach for Team Canada.

FARGO-Jamie Nelson went 3-for-4 to lead Fargo Davies to a softball home win over Grand Forks Central on Thursday.
Grand Forks Central was led by junior Madison Herbeck, who hit her first varsity home run.
The Knights dropped to 1-6.
East Grand Forks 18,
Norman County/NCW 0
East Grand Forks Senior High pitcher Megan Boman recorded all 12 Norman County/Norman County West outs by strikeouts as the Green Wave claimed a fastpitch win Thursday.
"Megan was dominant; she had a really good change-up and she throws hard," said EGF coach Heidi Spicer.
Boman also hit a homerun for the 3-0 Green Wave.

East Grand Forks baseball had a slow start in dropping a 15-5 road baseball game at Bemidji on Thursday night.
East Grand Forks scored five in the fifth and final inning to get on the scoreboard. Kade Spencer and Carter Beck each had a triple while Evan Estad was 2-for-2 for the Wave.
Sheyenne sweeps Riders
WEST FARGO-Regan Jastram had five hits and two pitching wins to lead West Fargo Sheyenne to a 20-1, 17-7 sweep of Grand Forks Red River on Thursday in girls softball.
Red River was led by home runs from Gabrielle Nuelle and Julia Soleim in the second game.
Central, Wahpeton split
WAHPETON, N.D.-Wahpeton and Grand Forks Central split a doubleheader Thursday night, with Central taking the nightcap 6-0 behind Zach Vodden's two-hit shutout. He also struck out 10 batters.
Brock Reller and Parker Stroh each had two hits for the 1-5 Knights.
Wahpeton won the first game 12-6.
North sweeps Red River
FARGO-Fargo North swept Grand Forks Red River 3-2 and 11-1 on Thursday night in an Eastern Dakota Conference doubleheader.
In the first game, Red River's Dane Montgomery, Isaac Burger and Will Raymond each had two hits.
